FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions about Nudism and Visiting Pen-Mar
What can I expect from a nudist club?
The atmosphere of our nudist club is wholesome and friendly. People who enjoy nude recreation distinguish between nudity and sex and keep the two in their proper perspectives. Pen-Mar, like most clubs, are careful about who enters their facility and if anyone seems to be there for the wrong reason, they will be asked to leave.
What are the benefits of nude recreation?
Self-esteem is enhanced in the nudist world, where body acceptance is the norm. Conversation seems to come easier. Many report the "time warp" phenomenon. A one day respite spent clothes-free seems to relax people more than an entire weekend elsewhere. Without clothes, stress seems to melt away.
What kind of people will I find at Pen-Mar?
You'll find a cross section of society, with people representing all colors, religions, occupations, body types, age groups, and income brackets.
What shall I bring to the club when I visit?
Pack Less! What to pack? A light travel bag containing two towels per person ( nudist etiquette means that you always carry your own towel to sit or lounge on and a second one for the pool ), sun block, any athletic equipment and shoes you'll need, toiletries, and a cover-up for chilly day/night or when you've had too much sun. Leave your camera at home. Pen-Mar does not allow any photography on grounds with out the permission of the board of directors. Photos are allowed only by a designated club photographer and only after written permission is obtained from the participants. See our Camera/Photo Policy.
Do Males get physically excited?
Not often. Nudist clubs are far less sexually charged than places where bikinis, thongs, or other provocative clothing, is worn. On the rare occasion where this occurs, simply cover with a towel or put on shorts.
If I'm not in the greatest physical shape, will I be uncomfortable at the club?
You'll feel right at home. Nudist clubs are a reflection of society at large, with people of all shapes and sizes.
What should I expect on my first visit to Pen-Mar?
As a visitor you should have already contacted the club, either by mail, email or telephone prior to your visit, so we will be expecting you. When you enter our facility you will approach a sign directing visitors to sound their horn before proceeding to the office. After that, a brief orientation for new visitors and a bit of paperwork and collection of ground fees will be conducted and then you are free to enjoy our club. We feature many activities throughout the year. A list of these events can be viewed on our Activities page and in the Clubhouse. Most of all, you can enjoy the family atmosphere, calm surroundings and the beautiful Pennsylvania countryside.
What is Towel Etiquette?
Why does everyone walk around with a towel over their shoulder? This health and safety policy is similar at most, if not all, nudist clubs and resorts. Towels must always be used when you sit or lounge ANYWHERE, from pool side, clubhouse, dining hall, and to the benches you may find along the walking trails. Towel Etiquette is being responsible and considerate of your fellow nudists. Basically, if you are going to park your butt, put a towel under it!
The Pen-Mar Club is a Family Oriented Nudist Resort. Please contact us before you visit.
